Strawberry Jam

Hello everyone, I have a Strawberry Jam recipe for you which is bleongs to my mom.

Canning is important in Turkey. Because, we have 4 different season Winter, Autumn, Spring and Summer. That is why we can not eat every type of fruit and vegetables all around the year. So, jam, can sauces or pickles or even freezing is perfect way to keep eating some fruits and vegetables druing the times we can not find.

Strawberry jam is one of those things we used to make in my family. I can say I grow up with my mom's strawberry jam. I already love strawberry and when it turn into jam it makes me fall in love with it more.

Such a good thing to eat with some toast, bagel or croissant in the breakfast or anytime you want some sweet. There is nothing better then fresh croissant and home made jam! Delicious! 

Jam is perfect way to use as a souce with cakes for tea time or mix with yogurt to make a healthy desserts for you. So, there is many different ways to use them. 

Some tips:

*For jam it is always better to use fresh fruit. 

*For strawberry jam try to pick small strawberries if you have a chance.

*Do not forget to take green parts.

*Keep refrigerated.

*Use glass jar or something else to store.

Strawberry Jam Mom's Recipe

Jam is very important in Turkey. It will be always in our breakfast and everyone will make their home made jam from many different fruits and even veggies. This recipe belongs to my mom. Delicious homemade Strawberry Jam made with fresh strawberries!

Ingredients
  

  • Strawberry
  • White Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Butter
  • 5-7 drop Lemon

Instructions
 

  • Clean and wash strawberries.
  • Measure them (with small bowl) and add them into pan with same amount of white sugar.
  • Cover and put into refrigerator, let it stay overnight.
  • Next day, take to stove top and start stirring till it get boil.
  • When it start boiling (we are going to boil about 20 minutes) you will see bubbles. We are going to take those bubbles from top with spoon. We can not clean all of it but try to clean as much as you can. (just bubbles)
  • When 10 minutes left, place one small plate in the freezer. Take out after 10 minutes to use checking if jam is ready or not. Drop 1 tsp of jam into plate and check with your finger. Like slide it with your finger to see if it is easy to do that without sticking or nothing then jam is ready.
  • Reduce heat, add 1 Tbsp butter and 5-7 drop lemon. After about 5 minutes more you can add into jar. *Use glass jar and keep refrigerated. Enjoy!

*Measurement for strawberry and sugar depends on you.
