Making your own yogurt is so easy actually. Do I even need to say how much more healthy it is? Store bought yogurts has too many added ingredients that are not meant to be in your body. Thats how it is with all package foods. This is why I am always saying I prefer homemade stuff all the time because it is much better for you. It might take some time to prepare or cook but it's well worth it to avoid putting weird chemicals into your body. Yes! Those things with weird names that we can not even pronounce are even inside yogurts. Especially flavor yogurts! I believe no one wants to put those things in their or their kids body, am I right?

Before all that, is yogurt even a part of your meal plan? I am not a fan of yogurt too much. But I love when I am eating with some types of food. Especially, many Turkish foods will have some yogurt on the side. That time I love eating yogurt!! Also if I mixed with some garlic.. Oh God!! That is YUMMM!! Well, what I am trying to say is even though yogurt is not my favorite by itself somehow I am finding a way to eat where I love it! Not just because of it's taste, but also its benefits. If it is not something you eat, you should search about health benefits of yogurt and add into your diet. For adults or for kids, it is good for everyone at any age.

After you learn how easy it is to make your own yogurt, you are going to start making it at home instead of buying from store. It's always worth it to do a little bit more work to make sure our kids and ourselves eat healthy. Now, let's see all the steps together!

It only takes around 30 minutes and you only need 2 ingredients. How much it can be more easy right?

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cup %2 reduced fat milk
  • 1 - 2 tbsp greek plain or homemade yogurt

Instructions
 

  • Pour your milk into deep pan and boil it. In this process, you should keep your heat medium to protect your milk from burning or boil over. Also make sure to keep stirring frequently.

  • When it starts boiling, keep time for 15 minutes.

  • After 15 minutes, let your milk cool down. We do not want too cold or too hot. Temperature should be in between.

  • Little while later check temperature. To do that use your little finger. Put your little finger inside the milk about halfway and keep for 5-10 seconds. If you can keep that much time without burning your finger but it is still hot enough too then milk is ready.
  • Take 1-2 tbsp yogurt and mix with 1/2 scoop of milk.

  • After you mixed them pour in to the cup that you are going to use to make yogurt.
  • Pour rest of the milk on top and cover it.

  • Take a thick blanket and wrap yogurt all around with the blanket. Let it sit in room temperature for 7 hours.

  • After 7 hour put into fridge. Next day it will be ready to eat.

Notes

*Boiling milk is helping to get rid of some bacteria inside milk that we do not want while making yogurt. That is why it is important to boil for about 15 minutes.
*Cup that you are going to use to make yogurt should be glass. Do not use plastic.
