Bechamel Sauce Cauliflower Cheese

Hello everyone, we are making one of my favorite cauliflower recipe which is Bechamel Sauce Cauliflower Cheese

I am one of the veggie lover. I can eat just boil broccoli, I love the taste! But I know there are many people who does not like eating veggies either because of taste or they just don't used to it. This recipe is one of those kind that is going to make you eat vegetable.

It is cheesy, it is creamy and it is so so so delicious!! You can eat either as a side dish which I have some other delicious side veggie dish recipes if you like to check. This one is perfect with any kind of meat like red meat, chicken or fish. You can try with my Turkish Meatballs for instance! OR you can eat by itself or with some another vegetable dish. Basically, it is so delicious and can go with everything!

Bechamel Sauce

Bechamel sauce is one of the very well known sauce in French cuisine and I love to use with many different foods. Believe me that creamy texture is like heaven! Once you mix with some cheese too there is nothing better than that!

The best part of this sauce is really easy and you only need butter, flour and milk. Some basic steps you need to be careful are;

- Make sure your butter melted but not burned. That is why it is always better to keep heat on low medium. Once butter melt and start bubbling little bit it is ready to go other step. 

- After adding flour whisk butter and flour together for about 2-3 minutes so flour won't have raw taste and make your stomach bad.

- It is always better to add milk slowly for better bechamel sauce. If you do not have time you can just pour it all but best way to do add little bit whisk add more like half of it than whisk till it get thick just a bit. Than you can add rest of it.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cauliflower I used fresh one head of cauliflower. So half of that and if you are using frozen you can arrange for that.
  • water to cook cauliflower
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 2 cup milk
  • mozzarella cheese There is no measurement for cheese just make sure to cover on top. You can use it a lot or little bit however you like.

Instructions
 

  • Cut cauliflower into little pieces.
  • Take into medium pan and fill up with water. Boil them till they get soft which took 10 minutes for me but time can change.
  • When cauliflowers are ready drain them.
  • Start making sauce. We are going to melt butter in the pan. When it melt and start bubbling little bit add flour. Whisk them for about 2 minutes.
  • Add milk. It is better to add slowly. Like half of it first than whisk it till it get thicker little bit than you can add other half. But if you do not have time there is no problem to add all of at once.
  • Add spices. Whisk in medium heat till it get thicker. There is going to be little flour balls and they can stick on the sides sometimes. Make sure to take them all while whisking and keep whisking continuously.
  • Sauce is going to get thicker after about 10-15 minutes. You can take it from heat.
  • Take an oven pan. Place first cauliflowers, on top sauce and at last add cheese.
  • Cook in the oven for 10 minutes. Last couple minutes you can turn on top broil to brown cheese or give extra 2-3 minutes after 10 minutes. Enjoy!
