Baked Apple Cider Donuts

Apple cider, cinnamon, sugar and butter turn into moist delicious donuts! What else we can want? Every bite is amazingly delicious. And every bite gives you same joy. Well, I can not say my moist Chocolate Cake recipe is not one of my favorite so you are gonna have to check both try and let me know which one is your favorite! If you still looking for more options also you can check all other dessert recipes I have. You can find ones full with chocolate ones perfect for weekend cheat days ones which is going to be your kids favorite and more!!

These are normally donuts but I also call them muffin because you can either cook in the donut pan or muffin pan. Depends on which one you are using they turn into that. Either way they are delicious!

Cooking time is the only thing will change according to your pan. If you are using donut pan, it will take less time to cook. If you are using muffin pan, it will take longer because they are going to be bigger.

I used stand mixer but hand mixer will work perfectly in this recipe. I also have to admit, I did one mistake while I was taking video. So, on the top we are supposed to make coat for donuts. For coat we need melted butter and sugar cinnamon mix. I add cinnamon into butter all the sudden and I was like OH NO!!! But it turn out same!! That is why when you watch video and read description that tell you how to make it you might get confuse but do not!! You can do either one of them but of course I recommend you to go with the right way which is mixing sugar and cinnamon. Just letting you know, if there will be someone like me making this small mistake it is okay!! Taste is same do not waste your 6 tbsp butter!

There are many people frying these donuts like a normal donut but how it is just enough for me! They are already full with sugar and butter so better not to fry them actually!

You can enjoy donuts while they are still hot and later on when they cool down. They are good up to 4-5 days.

  • 2 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk room temperature
  • 1 egg room temperature
  • 2 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cinnamon half for dough half for on top
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup for dough, 1 cup to use on top
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 8 tbsp butter 2 tbsp room temperature, 6 tbsp melted

  • Place apple cider into pan. Start boiling it. We are going to reduce apple cider with boiling. 2 cup apple cider we have is going to go down 1/2 cup. This step will take some time/ Mine took approximately 20 minutes. Time can change. When it reduced, place on the side to let it cool down.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, salt and cinnamon into bowl.
  • In another bowl or in the stand mixer, whisk egg, vanilla, brown and white sugar, buttermilk.
  • Add dry ingredients and reduced apple cider whisk all of them till they combined. Batter will be thick little bit but it wont be like dough.
  • Spray or brush donut pan or muffin pan with oil. Heat oven for 350 F (180 C).
  • Spoon from batter and start filling the pan. Do not fill all the way up. We need to fill only 3/4 of it. You can use spoon, ice cream scoop or ziplock bag. If you use bag fill it with batter and cut corner. Try to fill all equally.
  • If you are using muffing pan like me cook them about 30-35 minutes. After 30 minute check with toothpick if it cooked. If necessary give 5 more minutes.
If you are using donut pan it will take 10-15 minutes because they are going to be smaller. After 10 minute check with toothpick, if necessary give another 5 minutes.
  • When they cook take them out and set aside to cool down for about 5 minutes till we can handle.
  • At this time prepare coat. Mix sugar and cinnamon into bowl and melt butter. Make sure butter is not too hot or too cold before use it.
  • When donuts are ready, take one by one and dip first into butter then sugar cinnamon mix. Apply this step to all donuts.
  • Enjoy!

  • I used muffin pan and end up having 12 donut. Amount can change for you. But I calculated nutrition according to 12 donuts/muffins.
